A collection of three short stories. "Drought" is set in the highveld among Southern Transvaal farming folk faces with bitter personal problems and facing the threat of economic extinction when the rains fail. "Murder in the Game Reserve" takes place in the Kruger National Park and is about a murder and man-hunt. "Congo Crack-Up" is about three men and a woman who are the survivors of a plane crash in the African jungle and must trek overland to reach civilization. The author's works have been the basis for a number of feature films set in Africa and is noted for his antiapartheid stance as a South African movie director most notably in "Jim comes to Jo'burg" (1949) and "Magic Garden" (1961). 187p. Front cover remains bright though edges are worn; spine damaged at bottom and split at top; rear cover marked and creased; internally inclined to a modicum of foxing; thumb-marks throughout at top; else a few marks; though inside is generally very acceptable.
