Mitchell with his printed bookplate and ownership stamp. Near fine in a near fine dust jacket. Mitchell produced the film Karl Brown's Adventures with D.W. Griffith written and directed by Anthony Slide. Mitchell is partially responsible for the rediscovery of Karl Brown and is discussed in the bookÕs introduction. Karl BrownÕs intimate account of his working with D.W. Griffith as assistant cameraman in the company of the legendary cameraman G.W. Bitzer. Brown worked with Griffith on such films as The Birth of a Nation, Intolerance, Hearts of the World, etc. His account of working with Griffith is one of the most important views into the working habits of the great director. Brown went on to photograph the silent film epic, The Covered Wagon, and then became a film director himself, creating among his efforts, the superb Stark Love. Brown only signed a handful of copies to friends and they are very rarely encountered.
