Mass Market Paperback. Scattered, rather messy UNDERLINING AND MARGINALIA. Else, Very Good to Very Good+ in Wraps: shows indications of careful use: former owner's name and address at the inside of the front cover; light wear to extremities, with several creases near the lower corner of the front panel; mild rubbing and faint soiling to wrapper covers; a couple of faint stress crease to the backstrip; the binding is square and secure. Clearly, this is a flawed copy, but one that is structurally sound and tightly bound, showing mild wear and minor, unobtrusive flaws. Would make an attractive reading copy. Remainder, showing a small mark at the bottom edge. NOT Book-Club or Ex-Library. 12mo. (7.15 x 4.25 x 0.65 inches). xxv, 256 pages. Includes extensive Appendices, Biographical Notes, Key to Quotations, and Index. Language: English. Weight: 8.5 ounces. Published by James Laughlin. Hardcover. Condizione: Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. George Bernard Shaw (26 July 1856 2 November 1950), known at his insistence as Bernard Shaw, was an Irish playwright, critic, polemicist and political activist. His influence on Western theatre, culture and politics extended from the 1880s to his death and beyond. He wrote more than sixty plays, including major works such as Man and Superman (1902), Pygmalion (1913) and Saint Joan (1923). With a range incorporating both contemporary satire and historical allegory, Shaw became the leading dramatist of his generation, and in 1925 was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature. - Wikipedia 1947 - 1st ed as no additional printings are indicated in the book - "The books in this series are introductions to modern authors who are insufficiently or incorrectly known. But what is unfamiliar or difficult about Bernard Shaw?" - book: very good for age (75 years old at time of posting) - a few pages have some yellow highlighting - image of George Bernard Shaw is loose at bottom of spine - otherwise tight, sound, and square with no writing on any of the pages - just a slight amount of toning on the page edges - no dj.
