Prima edizione
Hardcover. Condizione: Very Good. Condizione sovraccoperta: Very Good-. First Edition. Light scattered foxing, otherwise clean and tight in original burgundy cloth binding in original printed dustjacket with large chips at head of spine & edgewear. Advance slip from publisher laid-in with proposed publication date of "7 Dec. 1926" The author E. H. M. Cox was an important plant hunter and the author of Plant Hunting in China. In this book based in part on Farrar's field notes compiled by Helen T. Maxwell, Cox describes Farrer's expedition in Burma and the plants collected. Appendix B is a listing of the Rhododendrons Farrar identified in Burma. Few botanical travellers or horticultural writers have a larger following than has the late Reginald Farrer, who died in 1920 while collecting plants in the Burmese Alps. His two books on his Chinese Expedition are now classics. In this book Farrar's Last Journey, his companion of the first year Mr. Cox describes the wonderful land in which they searched for plant treasures. The horticultural interest of Farrar's journey will appeal to keen gardeners, while those who have fallen under the spell of Farrar's personal charm, which pervades all his writings, will find added attraction in the new facts quoted in his letters.
