Hardcover. Condizione: Very Good. Condizione sovraccoperta: Very Good. Original Aperture 1969 edition hardcover in jacket with paperback in excellent condition in rear pocket of book. Difficult to determine, but I believe this is a 1970s edition with price of $35 still present on jacket flap. 242 pages, many pages with exhibition and biographical details at end of book. Condition: jacket is closer to good than very good with some chips and tape-repaired tears along edges and corners. Some soiling, the lamination is peeling, but is very bright in protective mylar sleeve. Original cloth binding, creme colored, has some age-toning, a few spots, but is mostly very nice with only soiling occurring at top page edges and board edges with dust spotting and soiling; then soiling to bottom outer page edges, mostly at corners. A very handsome edition of an important monograph.

Hardcover. Condizione: Fine. Dust Jacket Included. First Edition, 1969. The true first edition, not the reprint. A beautiful Fine copy in off-white canvas cloth stamped in glowing blue gilt at spine and on front cover, in a Fine dark blue laminated glossy dustwrapper, not price-clipped, complete w ith pamphlet of reviews inside pocket of rear pastedown, as issued. This dustwrapper is notoriously prone to fading, and curling and tearing along the edges of the lamination; this one is completely unfaded, with one minute tear to lower front spinefold. Probably stored away from the light, and never handled. 242pp. This is Minor's own comprehensive integral statement, combining his special penetrating sense of visual abstraction, filled with tantalizing mystery, and his sequential ordering of pictures which build to crescendos of feeling. Exquisitely reproduced black and white plates on coated text stock. Leavened with quotations from his writings. A brilliant summary of his work and aesthetic. One of a handful of crucial monographs of 20th Century creative photography. Scarce in this condition.

Hardcover. Condizione: Very good +. Limited Edition. Square quarto, 242pp., illustrated. A crisp, clean copy, very good or better, in the publisher's blue cloth. Spine faded, as usual, gentle foxing to the edges of the page block, but the contents fresh and bright. "Comments" booklet housed in the rear pocket is in fine condition, appearing unread. In the publisher's matching slipcase, very good or better, with commensurate fading. This is one of 200 limited copies SIGNED by Minor White on the bound-in limitation page. This copy actually has two signed limitation leaves bound-in; a mistake by the binder. Thus, it is both number 71 and 87, and as such presumably one of no more than 199 copies! Levity aside, this is a stunningly beautiful inaugural monograph by White, with wonderful brief essays by Jonathan WIlliams, Ansel Adams, Meyer Schapiro, and others.

Hardcover. Condizione: Fine. 1st Edition, limited. Limited edition, signed by photographer White, number 116 of 200 copies, slipcased, still in publisher's mailing box. With pamphlet of commentary by other photographers and scholars in pocket on rear pastedown. Laid-in is a vintage, original gelatin silver print photograph of White taken in 1973 by fellow photographer Robert Haiko and developed by Haiko about that time. The photo (copyrighted) is signed on the verso by Haiko; it is a portrait of White that appears cropped in the entry of White in Wikipedia. Also laid-in is a statement of provenance composed and signed by Haiko, who started the photography and film program at The Hotchkiss School in Lakeville,CT, which is part of Salisbury CT. Haiko coordinated the use of Hotchkiss facilities for summer photo workshops for White, who founded and edited Aperture magazine, which at the time was based both in Millerton, NY, which abuts Lakeville, and Manhattan. The photo was taken along Route 41, a country road, that runs through Salisbury.
