AJS: The author sets our to give a full history of the Naval General Service Medal (1793-1840), the rules for claimants of the Naval War Medal as it was then known, the accuracy or otherwise of Medal Action Lists, and the limitations on the construction of a Medal Roll. The author then provides full details of the 17,000 individuals who received the NGS NGS for 231 actions between 1793 and 1840. All these people are traced with name, rank, rate, and ship etc. Prepared and privately published by the leading authority on the subject. In an edition of two hundred and fifty copies, this being number 134, signed by the author on the half title.K.J. Douglas-Morris.
