Spine sunned and binding with modest soil, endleaves darkened and very light scattered foxing throughout, very good lacking the dust jacket. Gogarty, considered by A.E. "the wildest wit in Ireland," was not only an accomplished poet and novelist, but also an aviator and practicing surgeon. He was a schoolmate of James Joyce and the model for Buck Mulligan in *Ulysses*.

Originally published in 1923 this is a facsimile copy of that edition, preface by W. B. Yeats. Ex.Libris but good non-the -less.

Slim 8vo. 25pp. Linen backed boards, lettered in black at the upper board and with a printed paper spine label. Corner tips rubbed, and with some discolouration to the board margins. Leaf margins lightly toned. Former owner name neatly inked to a blank preliminary leaf, and purchase details inked to the corner of the adjacent leaf. Tiny Irish dealer plate to the base of the rear pastedown. A good copy. No dust wrapper called-for. Yeats' preface, penned especially for this new edition, precedes twenty-three Gogarty poems. This was the first book published by the Cuala Press following its move from Lower Churchtown Road to the house of William and Georges Yeats in Merrion Square, which was to remain the base until February 1925 when a long-term relocation to Baggott Street was completed.
