Hardcover. Condizione: Fine. Condizione sovraccoperta: Near Fine. First Edition. The scarce hardcover Issue of Bly's First Book! Gray cloth binding. States 'First Edition'. A clean bright copy in a bright attractive jacket with mild wear at the head of the spine panel. SIGNED by Bly on the endpaper with "My First Darling" written below his name. Three line poem in his hand written below that. Scarce! ; Wesleyan Poetry Program; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 60 pages; The poems of Robert Bly are rooted deep in the earth. Snow and sunshine, barns and cornfields and cars on the empty nighttime roads, abandoned Minnesota lakes and the mood of America now--these are his materials. He sees and talks clearly: he uses no rhetoric nor mannered striving for effect, but instead the simple statement that in nine lines can embody a mood, reveal a profound truth, illuminate in an important way the inward and hidden life. This is a poet of the modern world, thoroughly aware of the complexities of the moment but equally mindful of the great stream of life--all life--of which mankind is only a part.; Signed by Author.

Hardcover. Condizione: Near Fine. Condizione sovraccoperta: Very Good. 5th or later Edition. 8vo, nice copy.of his first book, 5th edition, FULL PAGE INSCRIPTION WITH A DRAWING ON FRONT END PAPER, of what seems to be birds, plus two hand written notes one on SIXTIES PRESS STATIONARY & one on THE SEVENTIES,(poem on back) each rather harshly critiquing a poet's work (not mine), but still asking for more poems. I was once criticized needlessly for my own work by Bly in a John Logan writing class, 1970 or so buffalo, where he was 'posed to be the visiting savant, I anyway still hold a grudge, Bly was somewhat of a self indulgent big blow hard, while I still admire and love his wonderful translations of the Spanish Poets.VVclst2/3.
