Paperback. Condizione: new. Paperback. FROM THE BOOKER PRIZE-WINNING AUTHOR OF THE PROMISEA young man takes three journeys, through Greece, India and Africa. He travels lightly, simply. To those who travel with him and those whom he meets on the way - including a handsome, enigmatic stranger, a group of careless backpackers and a woman on the edge - he is theFollower, the Lover and the Guardian. Yet, despite the man's best intentions, each journeyends in disaster. Together, these three journeys will change his whole life.A novel of longing and thwarted desire, rage and compassion, In a Strange Room is thehauntingly beautiful evocation of one man's search for love, and a place to call home. 'One of the most beautiful and unsettling books I've ever read. I can't remember a more troubling and intense study of rootlessness and loneliness; Galgut is a writer of great, almost frightening, depth.' - Tash Aw Shipping may be from multiple locations in the US or from the UK, depending on stock availability.

Paperback. Condizione: Fine. First Edition. First Edition thus, very fine condition. In a Strange Room Special Collection by Damon Galgut. Published by Central Book House in 2020. Paperback. A triptych of snapshots narrated by a man named Damon who travels the world, in search of himself and the eternal other. When Damon is in Greece, he meets a long-haired German stranger, Reiner, with whom he becomes enthralled. Reiner works his charm over Damon, who becomes, effectively, his lackey as they traipse around the sun-blasted mountains; it takes great strength for him to break away. But he is always destined to be a follower, in somebody else's shadow. Collectible item in excellent condition.

Libro Prima edizione Copia autografata
Soft cover. Condizione: Fine. 1st Edition. First edition, first printing. UNCORRECTED BOUND PROOF. An uncommon state. SIGNED to title page by the author. Issued in softcover format ahead of the regular trade hardcover, and in a much smaller print-run. An interesting and unique ASSOCIATION COPY, being from the personal library of the Booker Prize judge Frances Wilson and bearing her provenanced ownership name to top of half-title page. The prominent and highly regarded critic judged the 2010 award where, despite being shortlisted, Galgut missed out on the night to Howard Jacobson. Galgut, of course, would be awarded the prize in 2021 for his novel "The Promise." A nice link between the two therefore, and in any case rather uncommon in proof format, more so signed. Near Fine copy, light wear to blue card wrappers and with Frances Wilson's personal numbering / filing system ("26") in black marker to spine top. An excellent Booker-related rarity. Offered by D B WATERS RARE BOOKS: Professional, full-time booksellers of fine, select 1st editions, established in 1998. As befits a rare book, all dust-wrappers are housed within transparent, removable protectors. All our stock is fully guaranteed as authentic, a sample of which is presented here on this website.
