Hardback with brown cloth covers and dust jacket in good condition. The "Queen Anne" style is nothing to do with Queen Anne whatsoever , it is a style that evolved in the last half of the nineteenth century and was a complete opposite to the Victorian era. In buildings for example it was an architectural cocktail , with a little genuine Queen Anne, a little Dutch, a little Flemish, a bit of Robert Adam and a bit of Wren plus other bits and pieces, but it was much lighter and more delicate than the Victorian years during which it was at its height. This book throws light on an important part of English life in the final decades of the 19th century. 250 pages with 214 black & white illustrations.
