Pages and plates are lightly tanned and foxed throughout. Cracking to gutters of a few pages with exposed binding. Previous owner's inscription to front pastedown and endpaper. Binding is slightly shaky. Boards have mild edge wear with slight rubbing to surfaces. Soft crushing to spine ends. Book is slightly bowed and forward leaning. Light staining to boards. Unclipped jacket has heavy edge wear with some areas of loss, heavy tears, chips and creasing. Notable damp staining to surfaces. Moderate tanning to spine and edges.

Internally there is age toning to endpapers else very clean, tight and unmarked. 256 pages. 118 photographs and some line drawings. The collection of photographs covers a scale ranging from the centimetre to the ten-millionth of a centimetre. The whole of creation lies within these dizzy depths of minuteness. Here we find the living cells that make up plants and animals; gaze at the pure, fascinating shapes of crystals.
