Martin Dibelius [1883-1947] coined the term Formgeschichte [form criticism] and was perhaps the best exponent of it. From 1915 until his death, Dibelius held the chair of New Testament Exegesis and Criticism in Heidelberg University. This book was translated from the Revised Second Edition of Die Formgeschichte des Evangeliums by Bertram Lee Woolf.
