First edition. 264 p +132 full-page plts. Re-backed spine & original boards. 11 x 8.25", large 8vo. In fair condition. Boards are normally scuffed at edges and worn/bumped at corners. Re-backed spine lightly rubbed at head and tail; title label intact with bright gilt lettering. Edges of text-block marbled (moderately dulled). Previous ownership bookplate found on front paste-down: "Maurice Robert des Marais." Pencil marginalia found on front end-page. Sporadic foxing throughout text-block, mostly around plates. Some sparse instances of finger-soiling or age-staining. Binding intact. Please see photos and ask questions, if any, before purchasing. Edward Lance Tarbuck (fl. 1855)was a well-known architect who edited and wrote several of the articles in this volume. As a builder s guide, this one was a particularly practical one containing information ranging form site planning to housing estates and town-homes with cost estimates and construction details.
