This proven laboratory textbook for students of organic chemistry offers experiments designed to utilize microscale glassware and reasonably priced Ace or Konte glassware. The book is organized around essays and topics of interest providing a unique and comprehensive treatment of the laboratory techniques. In this second edition the authors offer abundant traditional organic reactions and syntheses, methods for the isolation of natural products, and experiments with biological or health science applications. Experiments in Part One of the book are relatively simple and serve to introduce students to important techniques before they proceed with more complex experiments. In Part Two, the use of infrared, nuclear magnetic nance, and carbon-13 magnetic nance spectroscopy is included. Part Three emphasizes qualitative organic analysis and Part Four covers conventional scale (macroscale) experiments including distillation methods using separatory funnels and routine methods. Part Five covers in detail the techniques used to perform the numerous experiments.
