Also new to this edition will be an Online Learning Centre the authors will write case studies to give examples of the styles of evaluation, examples of research design and examples of measurement designed for use by any reader of the text, student or professional.

Adrian E. Bauman is Professor of Public Health and Epidemiology at the School of Community Medicine at the University of New South Wales and Director of the Epidemiology Unit at Liverpool Hospital in Sydney. He is also Research Director of the Australian Centre for Health Promotion and an Adjunct Professor in the Faculty of Health and Behavioral Sciences at Deakin University. He has written extensively for journals, monographs and contributed chapters on public health.
Don Nutbeam is Pro Vice- Chancellor and Head of the College of Health Sciences at Sydney University. He was formerly head of Public Health in the UK Department of Health.
