Informazioni sugli autori

Eric Tournié is a professor of electrical engineering and photonics at the University of Montpellier, France, and a senior member of the Institut Universitaire de France. He is a specialist in compound semiconductor heterostructures and optoelectronic devices, with a focus on mid-infrared optoelectronics.

Laurent Cerutti is an Associate Professor at the University of Montpellier, France. His research activities focus on the development and MBE (molecular beam epitaxy) growth of Sb-base photonic devices, mainly for the development of MIR cascade lasers grown on native and lattice mismatched substrate.

Dalla quarta di copertina

Mid-Infrared Optoelectronics addresses the materials, devices and applications that have matured over the last decade as well as exciting emerging areas of research.

The book is divided into five key sections; Fundamentals, Light Sources, Photodetectors, New Approaches, and Application of Mid-IR devices. It begins with a review of the fundamental aspects of materials and device design for mid-infrared lasers and photodetectors. Then, the book delves into the important light sources such as LEDs, laser diodes, and quantum cascade lasers. Throughout these chapters there is careful consideration of the materials utilized for these light sources such as indium arsenide and indium phosphide.

Mid-Infrared Optoelectronics

also reviews key photodetectors and their materials, such as photodetectors based on quantum well structures, on mercury cadmium telluride and on indium arsenide antimonide. Emerging research areas in the mid-infrared is a key component of the book with a discussion of dilute bismide and nitride alloys, Group-IV materials, gallium nitride heterostructures, and new nonlinear materials.

Finally, the most relevant applications of mid-infrared devices are reviewed in industry, gas sensing, spectroscopy, and imaging.
