Ravens are not particularly predatory birds, but neither are they soft and submissive. The collective noun for them is an "unkindness". The raven is also a symbol used by a feminist group, whose attitude to the opposite sex is anything but soft and submissive.

Hardcover. Condizione: Very Good. Condizione sovraccoperta: Very Good. Jacket by Mark Harrison (illustratore). 1st Edition. First edition, first impression. Some edge wear to top and bottom of jacket and spine, corners slightly bruised, some slight yellowing to page block, not price clipped (£8.95), no inscriptions, internally clean tight and square, overall a vg copy for its age. 269pp. The thirteenth book to feature Chief Inspector Reg Wexford. The raven, not a particularly predatory bird, but far from soft and submissive, adopted as the symbol of a militant feminist group. Detective Chief Inspector Wexford thought he was merely doing a neighbourly good deed when he agreed to talk to Joy Williams about her missing husband. He certainly didn't expect to be investigating a most unusual homicide. Rodney Williams was neither handsome nor wealthy, but he had an unerring eye for a pretty girl and when he disappeared and two other men were later attacked by a young woman, Wexford couldn't help wondering if there was a connection. If there wasn't, where was Rodney Williams and why had he vanished? He had committed no crime, apart from telling his wife the occasional lie. Classic Ruth Rendell (1930-2015). Codice articolo 010135

Hardcover. Condizione: Very Good. Condizione sovraccoperta: Fine. First. "Rodney Williams's disappearance seems typical to Chief Inspector Wexford, a simple case of a man running off with a woman other than his wife. But when another woman reports that her husband is missing, the case turns unpleasantly complex. This book is the 13th in the author's popular Inspector Wexford detective series. This copy is very good in black cloth with silver titles on the spine. The top corner of the ffep has had a 3"x1" piece cut out, apparently to remove a previous owner's name. No other marks or damage. The unclipped DJ is excellent. AB15. Signed. Codice articolo B1157
