L'autore
Arthur Ransome was born in 1884. He was in Russia in 1917 and witnessed the Revolution, which he reported for the Manchester Guardian. After escaping to Scandinavia, he settled in the Lake District of England with his Russian wife where, in 1929, he wrote Swallows and Amazons. Thus began a writing career that has produced some of the best children’s literature of all time.

The English kids in this story set - Roger, Nancy, Dick, Dorothea, John, Susan, and Tittty - always find themselves an adventure at sea, or near a shoreline. Examples of the respective adventure sites include : Wild Cat Island, Horseshoe Cove, Cape Gris Nez, Houseboat Bay, and Shotley Point. Occasional b/w drawings within text block. Don't forget Cache Island, Cormorant Island and Captain Flint. Cond : Paper wrappers are blue with yellow high-lights and red lettering.
