R. Shamms Mortier is a professional animator whose art has been featured in galleries, on television, and other venues. His work has been funded by the National Endowment for the Arts, the Vermont Council on the Arts, and the Boston Film/Video Society. Mortier authors a biweekly column on computer graphics and animation in TV Technology and teaches colleges classes in these areas. Books to his credit include Bryce 4, Ray Dream 5 F/X, the Bryce 3D and Poser Handbooks, After Effects 4 in Depth, and FreeHand Graphics Studio 7, as well as numerous reviews of graphics and animation.
