John Montague was born in the USA in 1929 but brought up on the family farm in Co Tyrone, Northern Ireland. He has taught at Berkeley and the Univ. of Paris, and currently holds the prestigious Ireland Chair of Poetry. He edited The Faber Book of Irish Verse. He lives in Co. Cork.
