Sinossi
Il resoconto di Giuseppe Flavio di una guerra segnata da tradimenti e atrocità è un resoconto superbamente dettagliato ed evocativo della ribellione ebraica contro Roma tra il 66 e il 70 d.C. Originariamente un capo ribelle, Giuseppe Flavio cambiò schieramento dopo essere stato catturato per diventare un negoziatore nominato da Roma, e quindi si trovò in una posizione unica per osservare questi eventi turbolenti, dall'assedio di Gerusalemme all'ultima eroica resistenza e ai suicidi di massa a Masada. Il suo resoconto fornisce molto di ciò che sappiamo sulla storia degli ebrei sotto il dominio romano, con vividi ritratti di personaggi chiave come l'imperatore Vespasiano ed Erode il Grande. Spesso autogiustificativo e diviso nelle sue lealtà, La guerra giudaica rimane comunque uno dei resoconti più immediati sulla guerra, il suo eroismo e i suoi orrori mai scritti.

Josephus was born in 37 AD. He was one of the Jewish leaders at the time of the revolt of the Jews in the reign of Nero. His two most important works are The Jewish War and The Jewish Antiquities.
