This book brings together for the first time twenty-eight articles on input-output analysis written by some of the early pioneers of the approach as well some current practitioners of the methodology. In so doing it provides a detailed and comprehensive overview of the input-output approach, both in its methodological foundations and its empirical applications. Including both "classic" and recent contributions to the field, this work will serve as an excellent guide to students and professional alike as it traces evolving development of the methodology over the last forty years. Among the topics covered are national and regional studies, studies on the coefficients matrix and examples of the use of the approach in international trade, energy analysis, and regional economics. Six of the articles are written by Nobel Laureates: Kenneth Arrow, Gerard Debreu, Tjalling Koopmans, Paul Samuelson, Herbert Simon, and Richard Stone.
