It should appeal to economists specialising in China as well as a wider audience. The succinct introduction by Ash and Kueh provides an excellent overview ... it provides a useful overview of important Chinese economic issues since 1978 and is well worth reading. This book is based on a conference held in Hong Kong in 1991, and judging by the quality of the papers, I am sorry to have missed it. (The China Journal, issue no.38, July 1997)
