Research in cellular and molecular biology has reached the point now where it is possible to begin to see how the different fields of cancer genetics/oncogene research and intercellular communication form an integrated molecular model for the regulation of normal and neoplastic cell proliferation. A number of important discoveries in this field during the past few year shave greatly increased our understanding of cancer biology and have offered new diagnostic and prognostic parameters in oncology.
