Jonni Kanerva joined the Java team in mid-1995 to found Java Developer Services and subsequently worked as a development engineer in JavaSoft's Abstract Window Toolkit (AWT) team. His background includes NeXTSTEP application development and a Ph.D. in linguistics from Stanford University.
