In this book the author of "Ultra in the West" analyzes Ultra's contribution to the struggle for the Mediterranean. It provides a primary interpretation of World War II history, and will be as appealing to the professional historian and intelligence expert as to the layman. Ralph Bennett was drafted into the Ultra-producing department at Bletchley Park, and served there for over four years. He has also written many books on medieval history.

This copy is inscribed on the free end paper by the author to Basil Davidson, who was in the SOE in WWII and later an eminent historian of Africa: "For Basil Davidson with happy memories of Gordon Fraser, Ralph Bennett 12/11/89". There are some underlinings and marginal comments by Basil Davidson in the chapter on Yugoslavia. The book is covered in black cloth with silver lettering on the spine. The front flap of the dust jacket is taped to the front end paper. CONDITION. VG+. The pages are clean and tight, except for the mentioned annotations. The ends of the spine are a little rubbed.
