Excerpt from De l'Influence Sociale des Conciles

Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book examines the pivotal role of church councils throughout history, focusing on their impact on social progress. The author argues that these gatherings, often seen as solely concerned with religious dogma, played a crucial role in improving the lives of the poor and oppressed during the Middle Ages. Through the establishment of rules and the promotion of ideas such as the indissolubility of marriage and the dignity of all people, regardless of status, church councils laid the groundwork for the development of more just and equitable societies. By providing historical context, analyzing key themes, and highlighting the lasting impact of these councils, this book offers a fresh perspective on the relationship between religion and social progress.
