Excerpt from Das Grillparzer-Zimmer im Wiener Rathause
Grillparzer geboren wurde, da zeigte es sich, wre tief die Verehrung des Dichters im Herzen der Deutschen gewurzelt war. Auch die Stadt Wien hat diesen Tag durch eine Ausstellung gefeiert, die den Lebensgang des Dichters den weitesten Kreisen der heimatlichen Bevölkerung zu ver anschaulichen suchte. Die zahlreichen Reliquien, von allen Seiten damals beigesteuert, waren der deutlichste Beweis, wie pietätvoll jeder, auch der geringste Gegenstand gehütet wurde, der irgend eine Beziehung zum Dichter hatte. Den Mittelpunkt dieser Ausstellung aber bildete das grillparzer Zimmer, das seit der Eröffnung des historischen Museums im Jahre 1887 die schönste Zierde der städtischen Samm lungen ist.
