Excerpt from Prometheus, Vol. 2: With Other Poems
I nave but little to say by way of preface. An independent spirit will not beg an excuse; and an author ought not to publish, unless he believes he needs none. This second part of Prometheus is entirely new. It 18 like the first, discursive, but not entirely destitute of a plan to those who can detect it. It must stand or fall by its own merits, and therefore needs no farther apology. It was written hastily, in a very few days. This is no apology, if it is bad. If it is good, it needs none.

Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book is an expansion on a prior work in which the author critiques the institution of Prometheus as a flawed symbol. Here, the author seeks to provide an alternate to the classical view, by exploring the evolving nature of the Promethean spirit through history and across various disciplines. The author asserts that the essence of the spirit is not restricted to a singular interpretation but rather is a multifaceted, dynamic force that has inspired progress in philosophy, art, literature, science, and politics. In so doing, the author argues that while the classical view of Prometheus might be flawed, the spirit it embodies remains a vital and influential force that inspires individuals to strive for the advancement of humanity and the betterment of the world.
