Sinossi

Excerpt from Babylon the Great, Vol. 1 of 2: A Dissection and Demonstration of Men and Things in the British Capital

Elsewhere one may contemplate a single feature or lineament of the great picture of man but here they are altogether and at once upon the canvass, singularly blended and even confounded together, but still strong, graphic, and perfect in all their peculiarities. The direct'contemplation of this vast picture is, perhaps, too great a labour for any one man; and the details, if minutely given, would form a work from the perusal of which the most vo racious reader would turn aside: and therefore a sketch which shall exhibit the great features, phy sical and intellectual, must, with however light and hasty a pencil it is touched, be fraught with ih terest.

Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book is a literary exploration of the city of London, from its first inception through its growth into a powerful global hub of financial and political influence. The author delves into the very nature of the metropolis, with a specific focus on the human condition within the city. The result is a profound meditation on urban life, contrasting the vast wealth and advancement of London with the often-fleeting and fragile nature of individual existence. The author skillfully intertwines vivid depictions of the city's inhabitants, architecture, and industries with broader philosophical musings, creating a rich and thought-provoking portrait of this metropolis and the human experience within it. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item. Codice articolo 9780259307402_0
