Excerpt from The Meditation of Jesus Christ: A Contribution to the Study of Biblical Dogmatics
It will be noticed by some that the method of this book is substantially the same as that followed in my little volume on The New and Living Way, which was published about a year ago. Both these discussions are in fact fragments of a larger treatise which has been slowly growing in my hands for many years, and which I hope to publish at some future day. The aim throughout is to furnish the reader with a purely scriptural presentation of God in Christ reconciling the world unto himself. In the present volume I have perhaps made a slight departure from the biblical method in my second chapter, where a brief notice is taken of the ideals of incarnation traceable among the various nations. But even this exception is so in touch with biblical conceptions of incarnate mediation that no reader, we hope, will find fault with our calling attention to the interesting facts, and our supplying in footnotes a few references to the sources from which our statements have been derived, and where further information may be found.

Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book explores the biblical doctrine of Christ's redemptive mediation, arguing that the best way to conceive and expound the great truths of our holy religion is through the ideas and teachings of biblical writers. Following a historical and literary analysis of the relevant scriptural passages, the author meticulously examines the concepts of incarnation traceable across various cultures and religions, highlighting common threads that point to God's everlasting presence and power. The book delves into the depth of prophetic insights and apostolic teachings, discussing Christ's life, words, and actions as the supreme revelation of God's intentions to reconcile humankind. Furthermore, it brings a fresh perspective on the role and significance of priestly service and the Levitical rituals, showing how they symbolize Christ's mediation. Through an engaging exploration of the scriptural narrative, this book offers a profound understanding of Christ's role in mediating God's love and grace, emphasizing the centrality of his incarnation, teachings, and sacrificial death for the redemption of humanity.
