For best results the baking time should be divided into approximately four periods: First period: Rising process begins. Second period: Rising process continues and cake may begin to brown slightly.
Third period: Rising process is completed and cake continues to brown.
Fourth period: Baking is completed and this is usually shown by a slight shrinkage of the cake from the sides of the pan.
