Excerpt from Notes Queries for Somerset and Dorset, Vol. 6
The life of a local magazine is a precarious one, depending as it does upon a restricted circle of readers, and the Editors rejoice that they have been able to steer their barque so long upon a successful voyage. They must repeat, however, what they have said on a former occasion, that they require a constant accession of fresh subscribers to take the place of those whom the inroads of time have removed. The commencement of a new century, coinciding with that of a new volume, seems to give an opportunity of enlistment, which lovers of Somerset and Dorset would do well to embrace, and the Editors desire to express the hope that increased support, both within the two counties and out of them. May be forthcoming with the New Year.
They beg to thank their subscribers and correspondents for the many interesting communications which have been con tributed in the past two years, and they hope to receive as many more in the future.
