Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book explores the anapaestic caesura in Greek trimeter verses of poets such as Aristophanes. The anapaestic caesura is a type of metrical pause that occurs after the first or second syllable of an anapaest, a three-syllable metrical foot characterized by a short-long-short pattern. The author argues that the anapaestic caesura was not as strictly observed as previously thought and that it could be used with great flexibility by poets to create a variety of rhythmic effects. The book examines the various types of anapaestic caesura and discusses the conditions under which they were used. It also provides a detailed analysis of the use of the anapaestic caesura in Aristophanic trimeters, offering new insights into the metrical structure of these verses. The book contributes to our understanding of Greek poetry and provides a valuable resource for scholars and students of Greek literature.
