Mais il n'avait procédé à cette analyse qu'avec des moyens insuffisants. Son oeuvre, grande par la pensée qui l'inspira, et grande aussi par les résultats déjà obtenus, n'était en réalité cependant qu'une prem1ere ébauche. Il appartenait à ses successeurs de marcher sur ses traces et de compléter son oeuvre.
