It was early announced that the Emigrant Aid Company would take the; necessary steps for the introduction of the Press, and the publication Of a Pa per within the Territory. The Secretary is now enabled to announce that. Suitable arrangements have been made with G. W. Brown, late Proprietor of the Courier, published at Conneautville, Pa., and that on or about the first Of October next, he will commence at the seat of government of Kansas Terri tory, an Independent Weekly Newspaper, devoted to the development Of the resources of the Great West, and particularly to the interests of Kansas Valley. It will defend the principles of the Declaration of Independence, to ether with the compromises Of the Constitution, as understood by its framers. N favor of the greatest area of freedom, it will labor to prevent the extension of any in stitution over the new territory incompatible there with.

With several years experience as an editor and publisher, and well con scious of the responsibilities incumbent upon him in his new location, the proprietor undertakes the work with a confident assurance of success. All his means, time, and talent, are devoted to the cause, and he engages in it with the view of contributing his share towards building up in the heart of the Ameri can Continent, a State sacred to liberty. He asks the support Of the friends of free institutions evervwhere, and appeals to them for aid and encouragement. He ur es them to give him a subscription list at the very outset, which will place is enterprise above the reach of successful Opposition.

Every advantage which capital and talent eombmed can give a paper of this description, will be thrown around it. With correspondents in all parts of the new territory, and tourists who will make weekly reports of the pro gress of the settlements, and observations upon the fertility of the soil, salu brity of the climate, and internal resources, the editor feels confident that his paper will be a welcome visitant in every family, and serve as a guide to the emigrant in seeking a new home in the west.
