Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book is an in-depth study of a unique period in the development of Roman law - the emergence of a new category of legally-binding agreements called 'innominate contracts.' These contracts, unrecognized by the early Roman legal system, allowed for more flexibility in commercial transactions. However, their validity was initially unclear, leading to a gradual evolution of legal principles that eventually codified these agreements as legally enforceable. The author traces this evolution through an analysis of legal texts, providing insights into the reasoning and motivations of the Roman jurists who shaped this new legal framework. By examining the historical context and the legal debates surrounding innominate contracts, this book offers a valuable perspective on the development of contract law in ancient Rome.
