To those, nevertheless, who, on opening this volume about the middle, find its perusal too irritating, I would suggest, first, a preliminary study of the appended table of the nine formulae recurring uniformly in every Duka; and next, of the first Duk a, taken in conjunction with the Appendix. Or of the twelfth D u k a (l o kiya), to which the texts frequently refer, when abbreviating, as if to a sort of norm.
