Keep but the subject before the people in its practical bear ing upon the present and future welfare of the country - strip it of its party trappings - let it descend from the forum and gain a hearing at the domestic fireside, and a joint resolution will be echoed from every hill and valley to support the Constitution, and maintain the national faith and honor.

These Letters have no other recommendation than their practical bearing upon the question. Still I feel that the homely garb in which they are presented, will give them additional weight with the people. Should they be the ble instrument of presenting materials for other and abler hands to use, or awaken the public mind to the perils involved in the question, I shall be amply compensated for my labor.
