Excerpt from Matriculation Latin
Tms book contains the Caesar and Virgil required for pass University Matriculation, besides a considerable amount of prose Latin for practice in sight reading. It contains also a statement of the principles of Latin syntax, together with exercises in prose composition based on Caesar. This inclusion of selections from both prose and poetry in the same volume is attended with certain advantages, and is not altogether a new departure, as the plan has been followed in recent years in more than one excellent work published in England and the United States for pupils at this stage.
Since the character of the work required, in future, of pupils preparing for the examination in Latin for University Matriculation and Junior Teachers is materially changed, the book has been pre pared mainly with a view to meeting the new requirements.
