Excerpt from Lightning Rods
Away back in 1901, when Prof. J. B. Reynolds was head of the Department of English and Physics, he began to investigate the efficiency of lightning rods. Five years later. When two departments were formed of one and he chose the Depart ment of English, leaving the writer the Department of Physics, the writer thought he could not do better than continue the work so ably begun. To-day after eight years' further study added to the five we have the problem solved.

Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book is a remarkable treatise on the history, science, and practical applications of lightning rods. Spanning centuries of scientific discovery, the author traces the evolution of lightning rods from their humble beginnings to their present-day status as indispensable tools for protecting structures from lightning strikes. Delving into the fascinating world of electricity and atmospheric phenomena, the book provides an in-depth analysis of the nature and behavior of lightning. It explores the principles of electromagnetism, induction, and conduction, illustrating how these concepts underpin the effectiveness of lightning rods in safeguarding buildings. The author presents compelling evidence, gathered through decades of research and experimentation, that lightning rods are highly effective in preventing lightning strikes and mitigating their destructive potential. Drawing upon real-world case studies and data from multiple insurance companies, the book quantifies the significant reduction in lightning damage achieved through the use of properly installed lightning rods. This book is not only a valuable resource for homeowners and property managers seeking to protect their assets but also an enlightening read for anyone curious about the science of lightning and its implications for human safety. The author's clear and engaging writing style makes complex scientific concepts accessible to a general audience, fostering a deeper understanding of the natural world and the measures we can take to protect ourselves from its unpredictable forces.
