Excerpt from Manflight
As has been said, my observations of the Pacific gull had yielded little that was practical, except the great principle, which I believe to be a controlling one, namely, that it is not vast power, but a correct applica tion of power, which will at last achieve the desired result. It caused me surprise to notice in these te searches how many investigators ignored the principle referred to. Perhaps it was this that brought the thought that possibly I had made a step in advance, and this encouraged me to look more deeply into the mat ter. While I now attempt to carry the reader over the ground which I have traversed, I will not weary him with a long account of the history of air-navigation, because in a brief summary I can convey fully as clear an idea of present attainments. The classes of air vessels which are to be enumerated will include not only those which have been constructed and used, but also those which have been projected upon paper.

Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book examines the prospect of human flight, outlining the author's journey to uncover the secrets of aerial navigation. With a critical eye, the author deconstructs the common misconceptions and failed attempts that have plagued the field of aeronautics, particularly those surrounding heavier-than-air flight. Drawing inspiration from nature's flying creatures and casting aside the limitations of balloons, the author proposes a new approach centered around the power of the screw. Through this innovative concept, the author envisions a future where humans conquer the skies in machines that mimic the principles of bird flight.
