Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book, a compilation of articles published in 1910, delves into the author's decades-long research into the scientific management of labor. The author discusses the economic inefficiency of ordinary management and labor. He offers examples of the great gains in productivity possible with proper management and motivation, emphasizing the need for a balance between employer and employee interests. The author covers the evolution of labor unions and the reasons for their formation, positing that unions are only able to operate due to inadequate management practices. He stresses the need for individualized instruction, wages tied to performance, and management techniques that treat workers as individuals with needs, desires, and the potential for excellence. The book concludes by suggesting that it is through the implementation of scientifically designed management practices that we may most effectively solve the labor problem. The insights in this book are particularly relevant today because they remind us that proper management isn't just about increasing profits, but also about promoting better relationships and greater efficiency through respect for the dignity of the individual worker.
