Michael Hicks is professor of medieval history and head of the Department of History, University of Winchester. A specialist on late medieval England and the Wars of the Roses, his many books include biographies of Edward IV, Edward V, Richard III, his wife Anne Neville, and Warwick the Kingmaker, as well as two major syntheses: Bastard Feudalism (1995) and English Political Culture in the Fifteenth Century (2002).
