Tyrone L. Adams, Ph.D.
Tyrone L. Adams teaches human communication theory and new communication technologies in the Department of Communication at The University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Dr. Adams holds a B.A. in Communication Studies from The University of Florida (1990) and an M.S. (1992) and Ph.D. (1995) in Communication from The Florida State University. Dr. Adams is the recipient of the 2000 Southern States Communication Association Outreach Award; the University of Louisiana's 1999 Excellence in Communication Education Award; and, the 1998 Outstanding Contributions to New Communication Technologies Award presented by the American Communication Association. He is the Founding Editor of the American Communication Journal, the communication discipline’s premiere online multimedia journal [http://www.acjournal.org/]. As well, he is the co-author of over 25 journal articles, book chapters, book reviews, editorials, and product bench-marking test reviews. Professor Adams and his wife Brenda have one son named Alexander and one daughter named Cecilia.
Sharon Scollard, B.Sc.
Sharon Scollard has been teaching at Mohawk College of Applied Arts and Technology in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada since 1989. She earned a B.Sc. in Mathematical Science and Computer Science from the University of Toronto (1985) and is currently completing a Master of Arts in Education through the University of Phoenix (2005), specializing in Curriculum and Technology. She teaches adult learners and full-time students and teaches a wide variety of courses including computer literacy, software engineering, and Web applications development courses. Professor Scollard has extensive experience in course and program development, pioneered the first adult education Internet courses at her college, and has developed many computing hands-on courses suitable for self-paced learning, distance education, and instructor lead lab and tutorial classes. When she’s not absorbed in the latest technology craze, she often enjoys time with her children Angela, Robyn, and Andrew.
Norman Clark, Ph.D.
Norman Clark’s interest in computers started the Christmas he got a Commodore VIC-20 instead of the compound bow he wanted. Since then, Dr. Clark has gone through numerous computers, and earned a B.A. (1990) and M.A. (1992) in Speech Communication from The University of North Dakota, and a Ph.D. (1998) in Communication Studies from The University of Iowa. He has written several publications on subjects ranging from classical rhetoric to campus portals, and done extensive research on computer-mediated communication pedagogy. Currently teaching a wide range of courses at Appalachian State University, including Internet Communication, Dr. Clark is periodically pulled away from the Internet and reminded of the real world by his wife, Dr. Heather Clark, and their two daughters, Kehvon and Ashlyn.
