Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book presents an in-depth analysis of winter rations and their effects on the pasture performance of two-year-old steers. The author conducted a three-year experiment in the Appalachian Mountain region utilizing different feed combinations to determine optimal winter diets for maximizing subsequent pasture gains. The study examines the impact of winter feeding practices on summer performance, exploring the relationship between winter weight loss or gain and pasture gains, challenging common beliefs about the benefits of winter weight loss. The book provides valuable insights into the effects of silage-based diets, and the influence of winter feeding on cattle's ability to utilize pasture efficiently. Its findings offer practical guidance for cattle feeders and producers seeking to optimize their beef production systems by balancing winter feeding strategies with pasture utilization.
