The principles underlying the Calculus, in so far as they can be examined in such a course as this, offer little difficulty. N 0 more than an elementary knowledge of Algebra and Trigonometry is required for their discussion; and a real grasp of the meaning of differentiation and integration can be obtained by very many to whom the subject of Infinite Series would appear extremely obscure.
