SEELEY held many external examining and advisory appointments with universities in the UK and overseas, as well as being external examiner to several professional bodies. He was a member of the RICS General Council continuously from 1970 and served on many other RICS councils and education committees over the years. As a former local government chief technical officer, he was responsible for extensive housing and other building developments; he also served at the Headquarters of the former Central Electricity Generating Board on power station contracts and with two firms of consultants. Author of 15 technical books, he was Series Editor of the Macmillan Building and Surveying Series.
