David Pevalin is Senior Lecturer in the Department of Health and Human Sciences at the University of Essex, and is currently on secondment to the Home Office. He's the author of a number of journal articles in health research and social research and is the co-author of 'A Researcher's Guide to National Statistics', Sage, 2003.

.Karen Robson is Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology at York University, in Toronto, Canada. Currently she's on research leave from York and is Quantitative Research Officer at the Institute of Education at the University of London. Both Karen and David have been teaching Stata courses for many years.
