This updated dictionary is designed to provide a guide to, as well as an explanation and illustration of, the principles, concepts and terminology of geography in the 1980s. Covering geology, economics, sociology, cartography and statistics, this editiont now includes 2000 terms widely used by geographers and gives detailed definition and explanation of each term. The three guiding principles for the selection of terms were first, the terms defined should be widely used by geographers; second, the terms should be familiar to all students at schools, colleges and universities; third, that there should be a balance between physical and human definitions.
